Burrows Health Project CIC runs Burrows Real Talk: free, plain-spoken public events about prostate cancer for Black men in Brent, where the risk is one in four and diagnosis most often comes too late. They are founded and hosted by Patrick Burrows, who was diagnosed in December 2023, had his prostate removed that same month, saw the cancer return, and went through two months of daily radiotherapy and a hernia operation before starting the hormone therapy he remains on.

Every event pays for itself first, and whatever is left goes to cancer survivors; the figures are available on request and the CIC files publicly at Companies House. Macmillan Cancer Support have helped Patrick along the way.

Every talk is free to attend. They are paid for by donations and by ticketed fundraisers — which is why the events put a urologist, a psychosexual therapist and men who have been through it on the same stage, and take questions about sex, marriage and fear that nobody else in the room will ask out loud.
